What is not required when implementing ISO 9001 for a small company?
ISO 9001:2015 is an international standard dedicated to Quality Management Systems (QMS). There are two important factors that are not required to achieve the standard.
1. First, it is not necessary to hire someone full-time to implement ISO 9001. You do not need to hire anyone. However, it is helpful to have someone responsible for making the ISO 9001 certification process a success. Choose a leader on your team to lead the effort – someone organized, process-oriented, and quality-driven. If you are not sure your team is capable of handling the process fully, you may choose to partner with quality consultants to help develop an understanding and make sure your QMS is compliant.
2. Second, you don't need to do extra paperwork. ISO certification does not require additional office management. While records and documentation are an important part of ISO compliance, the standard simply requires organizations to organize and document their existing processes and systems in a way that is manageable and easily accessible.
